In WordPress 6.9, the Command Palette is no longer limited to the Site Editor. It is available across more of the dashboard, opening pages, settings, and tools through quick commands instead of several layers of menus.
Why it matters
The value is not another button. It is fewer repeated steps. An editor who manages many articles can reach the posts screen or a specific template quickly. A developer moving between plugins, appearance, and settings gets a shorter and more consistent route.
Do not assume every user prefers keyboard navigation. Commands complement the normal menus rather than replacing them, and WordPress permissions must still control what each person can reach. Review commands registered by third-party plugins before making them part of team training.
Try it quickly
Choose three dashboard destinations you open every day. Count the clicks required through regular navigation, then repeat the task with the Command Palette. If it saves time without making the destination harder to understand, document the shortcut in your internal workflow.
